Paper/History Question
I don't want to post this in the Orphan thread and hopefully it isn't too ridiculous of a question, but is there a way to trace the history/original ordering/selling dealer or get spec sheets/window sticker data from a C3?
I'm relatively new here, so forgive me if this is common knowledge one way or another. Already hooked on this site...!

I tried to get the paperwork from the dealer that sold my 73. They are still in business. But they advise that the records were destroyed years ago due to record retention guidelines.

You could try this site: http://www.gmmediaarchive.com/
It states that dealer invoices are available starting in 77 for Chevrolet, but also states that it "covers almost all cars & trucks produced in the United States starting in the mid 1970's". I got the selling dealer and invoice for my 79 thru them.
No cost unless they actually find something in their records/microfilm - if they do, then it's $50.

You can also order a new car model information for your model year. Includes options, codes, everything dealers and consumers would have received back in the day.
Hope this helps!

If the Media Center has a copy of dealer's invoice for the Corvette VIN you own, than yes, is would include Dealer location, code and zone. Also includes RPOs purchased and the pricing...no broadcast codes or other interesting data that typically accompanies a manifest or buildsheet.

You don't say what year car but look here to see if this additional information might be helpful:

I went to the GM Heritage site and went through the order process for an invoice for my '78. And today it arrived by email. Great, personal service and the first piece of history we have been able to get on the car we have owned for 25 years! Will the dealer still have records?? seems unlikely, but at least I now know where it was delivered, so maybe a call to the local DMV is next. Thanks for posting the link Bradleyb66

Hi. Bill Branch Chevrolet, Fort Myers, FL. It's now called Victory Lane Chevrolet, but they no longer sell Corvettes.
Not "being from 'round there" (!) I'm not sure how receptive Florida DMV is? But next week I may give Victory Lane a call first.

As a follow up to this, does anyone know how helpful/responsive the Florida DMV (Lee County actually) are like to be, or able to be, if I ask about previous owners of my '78?
Thanks!
Thanks!

No harm in contacting them and asking.
