Default Rocker Molding Fit

I know this question may sit wrong with the purists, so... I'm sorry in advance. BUT, I really like the polished aluminum rocker moldings. Especially with chrome side pipes. My question is, will the 70's era rocker moldings fit on my 68? If so, will there be any mounting modifications needed. Thanks in advance for the input.

I think I have seen pictures on the forum of 68's either for sale or not that have the chrome rockers.

I have them on my '69 and they bolted right on. They do look much better than the painted ones.

Hi 13611,
The shape of the later aluminum rocker trim will fit fine on your 68; I not sure if the mounting holes are the same though so you may need to drill new holes in the rocker section.

Alan

I had the opposite experience, they did not fit to my liking. It was years ago so I can't remember why, just be sure you can return them!

Hi,
The shape of the bottom of the fender, door, and dog-leg is the same from 68 on.
The reproduction 70+ rocker trim doesn't fit as well as the originals do but for most people buying trim at this time the current reproduction is the only choice with out getting into serious money.
Regards,
Alan

No need to apologize to anyone on what you choose to do with YOUR Corvette.

Yes they will work...and depending on your headers...they also may need to be cut/trimmed due to the tubes for the side pipe coming out from under the rocker.

Also....the rocker panels are different lengths from 1968 to 1982. I do not know the year that they changed...but I know I have several that when set beside each other...one is longer than the other.

And...if you are going for a polished aluminum look....I hope you are aware that the aluminum will tarnish and require frequent polishing to look good.

Only if the clear anodizing has been removed.
