Default Fun at Charlotte Motor Speedway

The NCRS Regional Meet is underway at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and a couple of C3s got out on the track. I do believe one belongs to PRNDL!

I've been to Goodguy's there and done the NASCAR riding experience and track cruise with my '55 Nomad. It's an incredible rush. You might want to add it to your "bucket list".
It gives you a new perspective when you watch a NASCAR race for sure.

Hi Pete,
Very nice pictures!
Not too many 68-72 cars being judged but they're very, very, nice cars.
Judging by the assortment of 70-72 cars you'd think 3 out of 4 70-72 cars built were LT-! cars!!!!
Regards.
Alan

Got a chance to do the ride-along as a birthday gift a few years ago. Sitting in a NASCAR cup car and having a pro hit speeds up to about 180 mph is simply awesome. You hit the corners and think you're going to slide up the track and out into the surrounding grounds. But the car sticks with certainty and keeps on keeping' on. I have a feeling that every single member on this forum would love to experience Charlotte motor speedway for a ride or for a drive, great track!

You're right about that Alan! Some great Bowtie display cars helped make up for the lack of early C3s. I think 3/4 of the cars there were big blocks, fuelies or high revving SB.

I'll have more photos later after I sift through the 4000+ that I snapped!

Hi Fred,

Neither are mine, I was the guy pointing the camera!

The '68 belongs to PRNDL while the '72 is a LT-! with AC. It was actually a test LT-! car for AC, very interesting car.

Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU!!!! What fantastic pictures!!

I almost didn't even see this thread. Yes, that would be me in my blue 68. I have been around the speedway before, but never with the top down, plus they gave us TEN laps! (vs the standard and usual 3). It is quite a thrill to drive around that track with the extreme banked turns, even if I didn't exceed 90 mph.

I thought I had a video going but I was rushed at the start and didn't press the right button so no video. These pics are a real treat!

p.s. I live in Huntersville NC, about 17 miles from Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Do you have pics of that beautiful red 66 bigblock with sidepipes that was directly in front of me? I don't know if he is on the forum, but I have his email address. He was hoping for some video, since I was directly behind him, but sadly... no video. Pics like these would certainly cheer him up!

I have some good shots of him as well. Check out the EVENTS tab on ncrscarolinaschapter.org, I think I put a few up there.
