'79 L82 4 speed, all original, Help me with value?
I have a friend who has a very nice '79 Corvette L82 4 speed. It's a one owner all original car with only 30K miles. He wants to get the most out of the car and I'm helping him try to figure out what top retail value would be for it. It is a numbers matching car in excellent original condition. Color is Red with a Black leather interior. A/C, Gymkhana suspension, PW, PL, 8 track, no glass tops, no spoilers, no accidents. I've looked at all of the value guides and got the info I need from there. Can anybody here give me some "Corvette Expert" advice on what his car is worth?
Thanks!

Here is the Hagerty values for 1979 L82s. https://www.hagerty.com/valuationtoo...ort?vbe=108440
Yes, thank you, I have seen that. What I'm looking for is someone with actual recent Corvette sales experience to chime in and give me his feel for the market. Is it $10K or is it $20K or is it $30K???
How significant is the L82 option. How about it being a 4 speed? And is the Gymkhana suspension a big deal?
The car is a very nice all original car, including paint.
Thanks!

Why not suggest your friend have the car appraised?
Why not have your friend join the forum and post concerning his/her car.
Pics of the car usually help considerably.

No disrespect, but you're on shaky ground if you try to compare recent sales of different cars. There are too many variable involved.

If you get it appraised, make sure its by a person with Corvette-specific experience and stress you want a real-world number, not a "feel-good" or insurance coverage number.
Mike's suggestion that your friend get a forum account and post a bunch of pictures here is the best route, IMO.

It definitely on description only should be on the top end of the scale. I too own a 79 L-82 4spd, gymkhana car. I think $15K for mine would be a huge win for me. Mine still has the original engine, trans and rear, has a very nice driver quality repaint, and runs and drives well. It is not a low mileage unrestored car as the one you describe. I would tend to agree that high teens to maybe low 20's might be a ball park. That said, without pictures, mine too is only a guess.

But then, internet blogs like the link here, give prospective buyers a rationale to offer less $ even after the work of appraisal and inspection. What the inspection does, a formal one, is give credibility for the asking figure.
