Do you own a C3 because you can't afford a C2

Oddly enough, my first Corvette purchase in 1977 was a C2 (a '65 396 convertible), that I bought because I COULDNT AFFORD A C3 ! (affectionately known as a "late model" back then. )
Fortunately, I was able to sell that silly Big Block Sting Ray and get into the base motor '68 I REALLY wanted.
At any rate, after many many Corvettes of nearly every vintage, I now know I must own a Split Window, and I must own a '68-'69 roadster... so I do.
Love 'em both.

It wasn't bright blue with maybe a white or blue interior, was it? And you took it to Koenig Chevrolet in Carbondale in April, '77 for the Corvette show?

No..... because to me, the 68-72 was the sexiest body style ever designed.
I was a teenager when they were introduced, and I`ve been in love with them since.
(Besides..... with what I`ve spent in the garage so far, I could probably sell it all, then get what ever car I wanted!)

C2 and C2's
I have a 65 and three 72's. I also have a 93, 00 and a 10. I like them all. I do have a C1 on my bucket list (after I expand the garage).
The 2010 Gran Sport vert in nice to drive, but not as sexy as the C3's. I saw a blue/white top 68 vert on display at Reedmans in 67. I was in 9th grade and would walk there to drool at the cars. It was love at first sight.

The only new Corvette I've every owned is a 69 C3 Coupe, I've owned 3 other C3s. All the C3s were purchased before I could afford a C2 or C1.
I've owned one C1, a 58 that I loved the look of, but it killed me to drive it any distance so it went after 4 years.
C1 was replaced by a 67 C2 vert (bar car) I sold right before the Cocaine market crash in late late 80, and replaced it with a 66 A/C SB vert (bar car) I still have, and only one I have that is stock bodied C2. (Call them Bar Cars as they were driven 62 miles one way every Friday and Saturday to work). My other 2 C2, are 64 Coupes, you know the cheapest of all the C2s...lol. To compensate for their cheap looks, the 1st one I bought has a C3 body line look to it. The one I'm in process of building I'm trying to retain a more C2 look to body line look.
The C3's body design is were the idea of how to get tire coverage for wider tires and wheels on a C2 so they look like they belong on car. It's what GM did on C3 an then to a little greater extent later on. That car also taught us how to make C6/C7 wide tires fit inside body, yet retain an almost stock C2 belt line look, well that is before the rear wheels setback was changed to provide another 1.00" of exposed wheel hoop...LOL How close it will be to stock because of that look is yet to be known as still working on it.
This tread will show you how the belt line look was retained.

The C2 with C3 body look. I call it transgender-ed from most Most Male body Design car to a C3 Female waist looking body. We looked at laying the top of the front fender blisters over (outward like GM did with C3's fenders) but decided to just widen upper portion of C2's blister outward to maintain's C2 upper to lower fender look when flared. So I've got a C2 with a C3 look also...LOL

I love the body style of the C2 and would own one in a minute, but by far my favorite has always been the C3. So weather I could afford a C2 or not,I still would choose a C3.

After 4 months of work on the '81, you could not pry it away from my mother and her two grand-daughters, as they think it's the sexiest Corvette made with it's imperfections and all. We've gotten some seriously crazy offers (no cash in hand), but the girls won't sell. C2's are great but not something that we'd buy outside of trying to collect. Need to post a cleaned up picture, but you folks can see the hidden treasure underneath the dirt.
Now the C4 was a cost buy because the C5+ were too much and our '93 gave us everything we wanted in HP and etc.
