Do you own a C3 because you can't afford a C2
I've been around long enough to remember when today's classic Corvettes were just used cars. I had a '60 when I was 17 I paid $600 for. I had a '64 which cost me $1100, which was a lot of money for me back then. I remember when a buddy of mine had a brother who bought a new '72. I sat in that car and thought how much cooler it was than my '64. Those cars are long gone and many decades later I longed for another C3, but alas, being a man of modest means and raising a family, the best I could do was purchase my project '72. I've been driving that '72 for the past 10 years, and I mean driving it... to work, to run errands, here and there, and although I still wish I had my '64, if did have a C3, I think I'd be afraid to drive it, to leave it in a parking lot, or to modify it, and I wouldn't have enjoyed it on a daily basis as much. I still have an eye open for that elusive '63 or '64 project, but I if it never comes around, my '72 always puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.

C-3's are a lot of fun and I've owned a70, 73, and two 74's. They never failed to put a smile on my face. I finally bought a 66' this past year (my first C-2.) Both give a lot of smiles per gallon! The one big difference I see is the attention the C2 gets. Every time I drive it someone wants to talk about it and you lose count on the thumbs up. You can't go wrong with either one.

With all due respect thou shalt bow down to the shrine of Larry Shinoda and savor the most beautiful piece of industrial art ever created.
I am awe-struck every time i look down that fender ridgeline and follow that perfect edge that screams muscle...
C2's are cool, C3's are even more cool.

I can afford a mid year and I have room for it. My problem is deciding if I want one. One day I want a '67 coupe, the next day it's a '69 Mustang fastback and the third day it's a new Jaguar F Type.

C3s are now appreciating steadily. IMO C4's are now the entry-level 'Vette (seen any at Barrett-Jackson? ). Plus they handle better than the earlier series and are far safer in everyday traffic.
-Newest I've owned is a '66!
(BTW Carl, Larry Shinoda was instrumental in styling the C3 AND the C4!)

I own a C3 because they are flat out ICONIC. When the average person hears the word Corvette, I think it is a C3 that they visualize. To me C2's are antiques, beautiful ones at that. If I had big money to drop on a Corvette, it would be an early BB C3. For the look....ICONIC

I own my C3 because I couldn't afford a 1970 Z28. With that being said; I do love my '69 L46 coupe and feel the chrome bumper C3's are one of the best looking Corvettes out there.

C2's are not as appealing to me as a late C1. after a 70 BB AC 4 Spd vert my next fav would be a red 61 vert. manual then probaly a restomod c5/c1, I love those things.
However I should temper that statement with "I have never driven a C2".

To answer the question, No.
I bought my '72 because it was cheap. I remember when C3's were so common that they became boring (and cheap).
Only decades later, comparing to the seriously boring designs on the road today, have the C3's become beautiful again.

A C3 is affordable compared to almost any other sports/performance car I can think of...I wanted a 69 Z28 or a 70 Mustang or a Shelby Cobra or a 71 Cuda or a Ferrari or...well, I'm sure you get the picture by now...Good Luck!

I still think about the time (1967) when I looked at a 1954 c1 on one of those buget car lots. Asking $1, 500.00. Had the money but it was ear marked for college. Probably made the better investment but damn it would be nice to have that car now. C1, 2 or 3 - I want several of each. But there's a lot of things I want and wont get. My c3 brings me all the fun I can handle.

Even the 340 Duster and Darts are out of sight. C3's are very affordable, and in my opinion as hot as any 70's iron. I expect their value to take a sharp upturn in the coming years
