Default 1968 restomod

My friends just finished this 68 restomod . It has ls3 525 with tube frame they made it with c4 suspension. They converted the headlights and wipers to electric to clean up the engine compartment. Paint is Glasurit single stage rally red. I really like this car because it looks all stock except for the wheels. Thanks Hogdriver

Not a fan of red, but the quality & workmanship of this car looks great. Nice job by your friend.

Beautiful car, except that they glassed in the removable 68 only rear valance with the 68 only back-up lamps below the rear bumpers. Lou.

After switching to an aftermarket C4 chassis and an LS376, I'm guessing they weren't too concerned about originality anymore.

Seems a lot of resto mod builds are going like this...

I would have ran a bb hood.

On my 69 I am doing the tail lights and back up lights 68 style...I dig a lot of that one year only stuff...

The car has a beautiful stock 68 interior and body, except for the back-up lights.
When I step on my brake pedal on my 68 coupe, I have four tail lights light up. It was a stupid move by GM to save money to eliminate the second pair of tail lights in 1969.
All C-4, C-5, C-6 and C-7's have four operating tail lights. Lou.

Lou, in '69 headrests were an option A82, not std.

When the owner bought this car it was in sad shape. The frame was rusted in two pieces and the windshield frame was rusted out, both door frames rusted and doors had to be replaced. It had been hit in the rear at some point and Buba had worked his magic on the rear body and the only good part was the 69 exhaust panel which was reused. The owner wanted led lights in the rear so that's why it has 69 backup lights. They kept the 4 speed and put on a aluminum flywheel and a 3.70 rear. It weighs about 2600 pounds and is crazy fast.

It would look better with some stock engine covers painted body color. Gives a better finished look to the engine bay.

Another one saved! Great job that I'm sure took a lot of time and money to get it where it is. Beautiful results.

Mark, In 1968 head rests were an option. The federal government made them mandatory, for safety in 1969. I did not mention headrests in this posting, but did in a 69 one. Lou.

I'm a purist when it comes to C3's, especially a '68.

But man, that car looks good and I bet it's a blast to drive.
