I don't have photo's of removal, but I went to local rental and
rented engine hoist to remove the engine. I worked on engine
first and it was on engine stand (which I bought) for 2 years
while I worked on my 73.

Manual or Automatic?
I pulled mine (Manual) with the trans, from the side.
Drain Oil
Drain Antifreeze (radiator and block drain)
Remove Alternator and Bracket(s)
Remove Power Steering Bracket from pump and block, lay pump aside.
Remove AC bracket, lay compressor aside.
I pulled my radiator, but I was installing a new one.
Remove fan and clutch
I removed my water pump.
I removed the carb to use a plate on the manifold to hook hoist to.
Remove distributor.
Remove Oil Pressure sending tube. (back of block near firewall)
I removed my headers.
Remove starter motor and mark wiring (important)
Unbolt driveshaft from yoke.
Remove yoke install tailshaft plug
Motor Mount Bolts (2)
Trans Mount Bolts (2)
Block to frame ground(s)
Pull Motor.
That's about it I think. Take pictures and label stuff, it ain't rocket surgery.

what to do once it's pulled is completely dependent on why you pulled it in the first place...if it's leaking, replace the seals and gaskets. if it's dirty, wash it and paint it. if it needs a rebuild, rebuild it. if it's a dog, put in a cam, new heads, intake, maybe a twin-turbo setup.

Mine was hooked to an automatic transmission. I too pulled it from the side. I left the tranny in the car and left it to sit on a steel pipe that was resting on the frame rails. This allowed me to roll the car outside and power wash the engine compartment in the driveway.

Here is a decent video that tells you how to deconstruct a 350. There are more videos in this series too.
