What would a new top cost on this 'Miami Vice' C3 ??
I am looking at this car.
http://volocars.com/1973-ferrari-day....zuJDTdbU.dpbs
I know it is not for everyone but I am a HUGE 'Miami Vice' fan
Anyway, the top doesn't seem to "fit" right in the pictures. I am traveling to look at it on Saturday but would appreciate an estimate prior to that.
Any other thoughts (good, bad, or indifferent) on the car are welcome.
THanks!!

That is way too much for a Miami vice clone.

A quick glance at that site shows that is not a stock Corvette top. It is probably stock Corvette top frame, so if you get a new top, you'd either get a stock Corvette top that looks differently or have to buy a custom made top.
Once, there used to be enough custom interior places around who also did tops that you could do it locally, but now, it seems all is mail order, so I'm not sure where you would check.
It could be the top is just not fitted correctly. Wait until you see it before judging. A custom top could be 10-205 higher than stock due to custom work, or maybe that much lower due to lower quality items from a local shop. Just see what a stock top would cost and use that as an idea if you are trying to gauge the about the price should come down if the top is bad.

The Grahm family that runs Volo Auto Museum are really nice people. I have been to many car shows there and have talked to Jay several times. I'm sure if you were 100% committed to buying the car they would put a new top on for you, demand it!
Does "Tubs" and that sawed off shotgun come with the car?

Volo is consigning the car and doesn't actually own it. The car is listed at $46K and the owner will not accept less than $40K (I've spoken to him....He's twice turned down my $35K cash offer). Somebody mentioned something about the dash looking "funky". I thought the same thing but wasn't sure if it was just the camera angle.
Admittedly this car is much much nicer than the typical E Bay clones that are out there. The owner knows a lot about these cars and is somewhat of a noted "expert" on MV replicas. He's a major contributor to the 'Vice forums and has written articles about them.
A lot of work has been done to this car (all listed on the ad) but unless you are a true 'Vice fan the car is definitely on the high price side
No, Tubbs doesn't come with the car

The fact is I've always had a thing for the Miami Vice Daytona 365. I've had this picture on my office wall for 10 years!

This would just be a fun filled dream "toy" for me. Nothing more.
Gratefully, I already have several nice cars to play with including a brand new 2015 Porsche C4S in the super rare 'paint to sample' color of Viper Green (only 3 in the country were produced in 2015 that color), a Jaguar Super Sport 'Portfolio Edition' sedan as a daily driver, and a 1972 triple black Corvette convertible.
I'm just bummed that the Daytona replica guy is so stuck on his not very realistic $40K price. Quite frankly he is WAY too emotionally attached to the car as it has probably been his identity over the past 10 years. I respect that, though.
Please do keep the thoughts coming, though, guys. But I must admit it would help if you've already done some homework on these Daytona replicas. I have.....and there are BIG differences between a good one and a POS.

Certainly not as busy as the Corvette Forum but it is active. Check out this link (which takes you right to the Ferrari Daytona replica section). BTW, The seller of the car goes by Jurrasic Narc

I did A TON of homework on 308's awhile back. Believe me, if u can buy one for $45K you DON"T WANT IT! They are a nightmare in costs of upkeep. Plus the yellow one has 56K miles. A 308 with that many miles is like a Vette with 200K miles. Think the whole 'dog years' thing.

I hear you man...I did think this yellow one was pretty clean for the price but the maintenance thing is certainly understood, and I'm down with the "saw it and loved it at 13" thing, I saw a blue 73 Stingray in the Chevrolet dealer in 1973 and guess what I have now?
