Default Sealant...

I just removed my carb on my 81 because of a gas leak. It was leaking where the gas line went into the carb at the filter. My question is do I use any sealant on the carb to intake manifold gasket? There did not seem to be any sealant on the gasket when I took it off.
Also, is there any sealant used on the threads of the large nut that holds the paper gas filter in the carb, the outer part of this nut holds the flange and line going to the fuel pump. TIA.

No sealant used on carb base-no sealant used on fuel inlet either.

You're welcome.
One thing though on the fuel inlet fitting, people have been known to get a bit over rambunctious tightening them up, and stripping the threads.
Parts houses sell over size fittings for that reason.

Thanks again, I just ordered a new carb mounting gasket and a new threaded fitting from Quadrajet parts.com

Problem could be with the threads in the carb. Those can get stripped easily, if fitting is over-tightened. Sometimes, the carb housing gets cracked.
