Default Hood Alignment Question

I've got a small block 69 with minor hood issues. The right side keeps popping up. It used to be hard to open. I adjusted the mechanism by taping up the receptacles in the hood and adjusting the fitting until it hit in the center. Hood opens well now but the right side often pops up while the car is being driven. Ideas……...

Rookie guess here......the latch release mechanism is bent or "too tight" and not allowing the hood to lock in place completely. The mechanism could benefit from a light coat of lubricant to help the hood engage easier.

Hi B,
You may want to check that the sliding latch on the female side has full travel and is securely locking under the male side prong.
Sometimes if the rubber stop isn't adjusted properly the female latch can't fully set under the male side prong.
Sometimes then the hood will bounce open when the car hits a bump.
Regards,
Alan

The question is how can Mr. Alan come up with such good pictures so fast? But then, take a peek at the pegboard organization in the background. We can all dream of that someday. Thank you sir.

It was built by a master, but it is never driven, and so it stays that clean.
