I have a stock l82 '79 fan set up. Can someone on this forum tell me when the fan that sits closest to the radiator is suppose to turn on? The electric fan I should say. Would anyone enlighten me cause the auxiliary fan I want to say isn't working and it use to run at idol i seem to remember and is there a relay for that fan? Thanks in advance.

The fan, part of the L82 h/d cooling option, was controlled by the little switch located on the passenger side of the engine. I don't remember the exact temperature setting of this switch but I believe it was on at 238 degrees and off at 201. (on cool down).

Oddly I owned one of these cars for years... mine also had the h/d spoiler extension that was included (riveted) to the ABS spoiler. This came about when you had the L-82, HD cooling and no spoiler package (pace car style) on the front. They stuck this ugly spoiler extension on your car. I make the repro of this extension because I had ordered a couple of extra's when I had the car in the early 1980's.

There is not a relay in the 1978-1979 system either, it was a direct contact switch that operated the fan.
