Bubbles here. Wish they also came in "Euro" sets with 2 ambers. YMMV

So one cheap easy fix is the bubble tail lights and a quick simple rewire to have two tail lamps per side again,

Or if you like stock lights better get two tail lights lens per side. I prefer the stock lenses, but agree the back-up light has to go! The conversion requires the buckets to be changed. And I`ll be using a 68 wire harness that will already be wired for 4 stop / tail, with remote reverse lamps below.

I agree. But I prefer the '68 lenses. Looks like you used the later ones.

I remember putting these on 69 Vette when I had it back in 1982. At that time it was one of the few mods that I could afford. I thought it was a great look back then. Now on the right car, color combo, it still is.

I like the bubble lenses. Have a set that will be going on my 75 when I finish it.

Was thinking of trying to buy two of the outside lenses and replace them with the inside lenses and then I just the wiring. Is that kind of what you did? What's the best way to go about it?

Originally the idea was to convert both inner (backup) lights to just tail and brake, giving 4 lights that do the same thing. They even came with a plug in harness to convert it.

I took mine a step further and added a sequencer module and led lighting. For the smoke effect on the lenses I added a few drops of black to a polyurethane clear. 3 coats. My rear lighting is a treat to see in living color, as the 3rd sequenced light looks like an explosion of fire.

Here's a short video:

I recently installed a set of bubble tail lights on my 1977.
I found a tag frame with white LEDs and wired it in for the backup lights.

Also noted the Sharkbite rear suspension. I too have that setup, I just hope the armchair engineers here don't see it. If they do, it's probably enough to get them fired up like an overdose of Viagra, informing you what you've undoubtedly been riding around on simply can't be possible. Good luck! LOL!
