L88 Hood
I finally received an L88 hood yesterday. it came from Gla$$tek. it looks pretty nice. rough fit the lines look pretty good. It does not have a cold air set up and they did not offer one.
I purchased one from Ecklers to install but the hood is a bit different.... I did expect that though.
I have a 76 so its the long hood what I would like is to have some members show me the underside of there L88hood (long) to get some ides and to see how far away the hood is from the windshield. this one sits very close. I will post pictures later tonight. I don't care who manufactured your hoods but please post that info if you know.
Thank you

Here I am setting up for the cold air box I ll post more picures once I turn it over and show how I plan on using a stock base reworked along with a cover. Both pieces will be cut up so the air cleaner will sit in side the opening and I can use a readily available filter

This is an old Ecklers hood. Yes it is close to the windshield but still room for gauges under the tunnel.

I also have an L-88 style hood and I also wanted ram air. The first thing I did was use my water manometer to check out the amount of pressure at the base of the windshield and found there was no pressure there at all. Just a slight vacuum but positive pressure did show up about half way up the windshield because of how the air flows up and over the dome of the hood.
So I decided to get pressure from the front of the hood just in front of the radiator. It took a whole week of 12 hour days to get the job done but the outcome was terrific. At 60 mph I'm getting 1" Wc (water column) and at 80 mph I'm getting 1-1/2 Wc. Prior to the hood modification I was getting 10-1/2 mpg at every fill up and after the modification I'm getting an astonishing 14 mpg (3 tanks so far) so either the ram air or the cold air (or both) increased it 33%.

thanks for posting hopefully I will get my hood on today. Just setting it on the other night it looks closer to the windshield than yours.

what does the topside of your hood look like nice job on the cold air setup

I misread your post and thought you were trying to get RAM air. Mine is a true RAM air as well as a COLD air because it inducts the air from the front of the car where air pressure is high. I'll take a couple of pictures after the sun comes up.

Here are some pics of mine for my 76. I bought it at Carlisle from Fiber Concepts. It's just sitting on the car now and is not bolted to the hinges but you may get an idea of how it will look.

a few pics from almost done. pretty happy with the fit but was not pleased with the attachment points. When I called Glasstek they said they use steel plates but I found none. They use steel inserts that are epoxied in place. Also the supplied bolts are a different size so the holes had to be enlarged.

Had my daughter helping Friday and Saturday to get it together. I made my own air filter assembly using a base and lid from a 71 c10
The top got trimmed to the filter so that all goes up into the opening then the base was trimmed of the sides along the base so that it exposed 1.0" of the base around the filter. I added some foam tape to the base so that would seal around the air box. It looks a little crude right now but it works as soon This was a R&D project to see how everything fit so now its time to do another one and clean up the rough edges I try and post some pictures later.
I am using a Performer RPM intake 1.0 spacer stock 1/2 spacer on the air horn stock GM 71 c10 modified base and lid with a stock filter for the 71
so yes I guess its now a true bubba cowl set up lol to fool everyone I even added the L82 emblems where the 427 should be.
I was cruising the beach and some dude was walking by commenting how nasty it sounded then looked and said no wonder you've got an L88 LOL
