Much Thanks!

Update:

I "ran into" about 10 pounds of problems when I removed/cut off the last 10 inches of the '76 tail light section. A previous body shop who did the conversion had literally piled filler nearly an inch thick and 4 inches wide on the inside of the panels over the seam that held the tail light section to the main body.

It took around 6 hours in a two day period with a heat gun, a gasket scraper, and a side grinder with a 4" diameter sanding disc attached in order to remove all the filler and bondo.......normally it should have taken about 1.5 hours total time.

A family medical emergency also added a few days to the delay.

Now I'm to the point where I should have been about 4 days ago.

"While I was at it".......and because of all the rainy weather---plans have changed "a little"...........
Since the car is a basket case resto-mod (which is the only reason I am doing modifications).....and since we will be going on long trips, I decided to add an additional fifteen inches to the length/36' to the width of the cargo area by removing the fuel tank/then fiberglassing a trunk extension where the tank had been/then fabricating a new slimmer tank that would sit between the frame rails and under the extended cargo floor (similar to other cars and SUVs). I had the tank sheetmetal bent by a local shop who also formed the custom oil tank which is tucked under the transmission of my Harley Davidson.

Now I will be able to fold down the soft top and still have plenty of room for luggage and camping gear!

While I'm at it... The most dangerous words in all the car restoration world.
That is really impressive, though. I'm pretty sure you'll have the only convertible C3 in any campground you visit . Pics of the progress would be great!

"most dangerous words"........very true! That's why I always emphasize in my build thread that I would NEVER do modifications to a car that was 50% or more original. I promise that I won't buy a canopy from an old VW van and install it on the Corvette.

I have around 50 pics.....and have received lots of good advice.....I'm trying to keep it all organized in my build thread to keep myself and members from having to bounce between the two threads....I also take information that members post here and use it in the build thread......

Medical problems caused the work to stop on the rear conversion of the car, but I'm at it again and have the tail light "clip" nearly installed/bonded in place.

Click for pics/also more pics on last page of the thread..........
