Go with the 78. No computers, no cross fire injection. All you need is fuel, spark and oxygen and you're on the road.
Also, I believe the Pace Car is rarer than the CE.
After my research, I wanted a Pace Car. I also wanted an L82 and 4 spd. 4spd's are very rare in Pace Cars and I couldn't find one. Ended up with my close second choice the 78 s/a with my L82 and 4spd.
Hi, I am new in the corvette world and new in the forum. I have searched through the forum but could not find the info I would need.
I am looking for one late years C3, I like the fastback shape. Also I would like it to be some kind of special edition car. Currently I am thinking about either 1978 Pace replica or 1982 CE.
The car would be a sunny-weekend car, 1-2000 miles per year, I would not change the appearance of the car but would go for some mild performance modifications (i.e. dual exhaust,...)
I have no chance to compare them in live (being in Europe), so I would appreciate your opinions about those cars, especially from them who had both of them.
I am interested in technical comparison and also in overall image of those two models.
Any opinion is appreciated.

I looked for a month for another C3. First choice was the '78 PC but my wife didn't want another black Corvette. We saw a 1982 white/Dark Red next to a CE and went with the white car. Matter of our preference.
If it was a real PC, I would say PC hands down. So, having said that, it is a real CE, so I say CE. I am partial to the pre 80 design though. Not a fan of the integrated rear spoiler.
