Lost my best friend...

Never easy, losing a parent. My dad has been gone 20 years, I was 18, just graduated High School, went from a boy to a man in one day. I find some days when things are not going my way and I need direction, I see something that reminds me of him and that gives me the strength and motivation to continue on.
He will always be with you, you share the same DNA. God bless you and your family at his difficult time, the Forum is here for you too.

I can not imagine the pain you are going through right now. Prayers to you and yours for faith, strength, and courage. May God comfort you in this time of loss.

My father and I were quite close, too, and I understand your loss. My father will be gone 40 years, in a couple of weeks, but I still think of him all the time.....

Sorry about the loss of your Dad. It's very tough to lose someone who meant so much to you. Remember all the good times.
I just lost my Mom last week. It's never easy but she lived 91 great years.

Thursday was my 58th birthday. I got a phone call that evening explaining that my father had passed away also. On the same day as your dad.
May the peace of God be with you during your difficult time Skunk Works.

You are now a member of one of the worst clubs in the world. Going on 11 years for me. It doesn't get easier, it just sucks a little less each day. Congrats you had him as your best friend. And I'm sure he will be cruising along side you again real soon.

Very sorry to hear Skunk Works and Street Rat. I wish you and your families comfort in the coming weeks and months and years. People are always there when we loose loved ones. The attention slows as times passes...but the pain and sorrow of the loss still is there....and will be there. I wish you the ability to handle this loss and remember your Dads the way they would want you to.

Lost my Dad on Dec 9th, 2008. Moved to Texas almost immediately to help out my Ma.....he was 58. I was 38.
Dad left me his 66' Sting Ray......and it has morphed into two other Vettes in 7 years.
Some would be sentimental about keeping the 66'.....as I was for a while.....but Dad was never like that and I followed suit.....it is about enjoying the hobby....like you are.
I know how you feel.....and it gets better.....live vicariously through the Vettes!
My best to you....sorry for your loss.

Thank you, everyone, so much for the heartfelt sympathies you've expressed. Tho we may not know each other face to face, it does mean a lot to know there's plenty common ground enough here to make having shared with you guys something for which I'm sincerely thankful to have done.
Street Rat, I'm also very sorry to hear of your loss on the day. FWIW, my 57th BD was the 11th.
Paul, my Dad was also a pilot and general contractor.
Here's a pic of Dad's favorite plane he ever owned, which he still had in his wallet...
