Whats the value of an all original, running, L46 out of a '69 (not my car) with 70,xxx miles showing? One of my coworkers also has a '69 (coupe) that he's considering an LS swap on. We were just discussing the cost of the LS vs the value of the L46. As an aside, the car is far from original with a 5 spd and updated suspension, bakes, etc. so its not like hes parting out an all original car.

It's always going to be worth the most with the car it was born in. Alone carb to pan $500.00 to $800.00 (guesstimate)

agreed. I know behind the LT1, the L46 is a relatively desirable small block, just didn't know what, if anything, its worth by itself. Either way, clearly not going to greatly offset the price of an LS crate engine. Thanks for the input.

A few different suffixes were available in '69. If he wanted to sell it, there may be someone out there looking for a specific combination with a specific casting date and assembly date.

Post the VIN pad, this will be the first step. But, let us say that everything the seller has just fits the buyer's needs. $1000-1500 I would say would be fair, depending on condition of all the accessories (heads, cylinders, manifold, exhaust manifolds, distributor, etc.).
