Do 33-Year Old Original Tires Have Any Value?
I have the original Goodyear Radial T/A's that came on my Vette when it was new in 1982.
I myself have no intention of trying for a Bloomington Gold certification or anything like that.
Do these tires have any value for someone who would need / want them for Bloomington or NCRS judging?
Thank You-
-Ray

I would say YES to the right person. I sold a set of GoodYear Steel Guard Radials this summer that originally came on a 76. Guy that bought them was pursuing a NCRS certification.

"Old tires may have tremendous value to an attorney should one let go and injure someone."
Yeah, if I sold them, I would put several warnings NOT to drive on them. I had the experience several ago of finding a pristine, one-owner 1988 BMW 325is with 9,000 miles on it in NJ, flew there, picked up the car, drove to NYC to pic up my Daughter for her winter college break from NYU, one tire blew right after that, put on the spare, 50 miles later, another tire started to go. Had to get towed to the nearest tire shop.
"FOR SHOW USE ONLY, NOT SAFE TO DRIVE ON" Ha! I would hope that would cover it!
-As an aside, I looked on e-bay, there are vintage tires for sale there, with prices all over the place, but I don't see many bids. Perhaps the niche for these tires is quite small. I think I will take them out of storage and list them for sale here and on a couple other forums and see what happens. If someone could use them for Bloomington or NCRS, I would be happy if I could find that person and help in their quest.

I just bought an 82 CE with the original tires on them. I going to replace them and save the originals (I have the space) for the next owner if they want them. The problem that I see keeping the originals for shows etc. is that you need another set of CE rims.

bj1k, I could not agree with you more-
I am not Jay Leno, I don't have the money to store, maintain, and insure a car I don't drive, and this car is too cool NOT to drive!
My CE is pretty pristine, 5,600 miles when I bought her, I have put on 800 miles since buying her a month ago, and if the snow and resultant salt trucks hold off for awhile, she'll have many more miles on her before she goes under the cover and on the battery tender for the winter.
Now, after owning my first Corvette, I am seriously thinking about saving my pennies, buying a good C2, and doing a frame-off 100% restoration. My favorite show growing up was "T.H.E. Cat", and he drove a black on black C2. I loved that show, and I loved that car.
Drive Your Corvettes! That is what they want you to do!
Ha! -Life is good! I own my first Corvette!
