Default Last Vette made in St Louis

Does anyone remember when the last corvette was made in St Louis? I'm trying to find the article from the St Louis Post Dispatch.

My Corvette Black Book shows "July 31, 1981: The St. Louis Corvette assembly plant builds its last Corvette, VIN #1G1AY8764BS431611, a beige coupe."

CBS News filmed the car on Friday afternoon, 7/31/81 and the video bite made the evening news. The car was not finished during the filming and went back on the assembly line after the film crew left. It was finished on Saturday, 8/1. Peter LiCastro covers the car in his book, Birthplace of Legends.

Would you know where I could get any articles from the last day? My dad was pictured as dropping the body on the last vette and I wanted to make something for him for Christmas. Thanks!

If your dad is Marvin Lloyd there is a picture of him during the body drop of the last STL Vette in Mike Mueller's book "The Complete Book of Corvette, Every Model Since 1953." It is on page 199 and the book is available at most large book stores. If you can't find it send me a PP and I'll email you a copy of the picture.
