Alright, so I have asked you this before but it was so far back that I can't find it. I have a '68 with an L88 big block in it. The steering column was changed to a later column with the ignition on it. It still has all for taillights like a 68 but is missing the reverse lights under the bumpers. I know I will at least have some rewiring to do, but what do you recommend for the wiring? 68 wiring or a later set?

I think it's going to be tricky either way you go...

Stay with the 68 harness and you'll have to move the wires for the ignition switch connector. Switch to the 69 main harness and you'll have that portion correct but then you'll run into wiper motor issues due to the forward harness being different. But that might be a blessing. Then you'd just wire it up like a 69 wiper set up.

A simpler change would be two go back with the 68 dash pad and put the ignition switch back on the dash. Then you go with the 68 harness and the only thing you'll have is a non working switch on the column (except for the turn signals which could be wired around if needed. I have the harmonica connector used and you'd need it to complete it this way.

See the dash main is going to have the U shaped connector for the turn signal switch. If you buy the harmonica style, you simply un-pin the wires from the new main and load them into the new connector.

The back up lamps worked off the shifter... so that's not going to play a part in this decision.

The small gauges all plug up the same on both years... and so do the lamps and bulbs for the speedo and tach...

Your call there, just depends on how much work you want to do on it.

Thanks for the response. I kinda figured I had my work ahead of me either way I go. I have all the wiring still in the car, I just want to replace everything since it is quite aged and part has been destroyed by mice. I noticed there is only one engine harness choice in the 68 harnesses, was there no difference between the harness for the small block and big block that year? I notice other years had an option for both.
