Hurst shifter
My "75" has a Borg Warner 4 speed with a Hurst shifter attached to it. It seems to me that if the shift lever was about 2 inches shorter or so it would be a lot easier to get 3rd gear and make the throw shorter for all gears. Does anyone know of an after market replacement stick 6" to 7" total length. Thanks for any info.

What came with the Hurst kit
538-7991
What I used 238-0131
5387201 doesn't look like it would fit without hitting the console in reverse. Not right side offset to clear the center console.

I brought a shifter arm that looks like a stock shifter for my hurst and it doesn't interfere with anything. Most vendors sell them.

I have the shorter (6 inch) one on my 68 and it does not hit anything.

Thanks for everyone's responses. I settled on the 2380077 Hurst Indy model. Length is 7 1/2 from center of ball to center of lower hole. It doesn't have a left to right offset but I can add that with a press if needed. After measuring height of the original above and below console and taking my original stick out with more measuring and marking, I found the 7 1/2 to be what I would need. When I get the new stick installed I will post some pics so you can see how it looks.
Thanks again, Jerry

My NOM BB 68 had a Hurst Shifter that hit the console in reverse as well as 1st and 3rd. At the time I was uniformed in regards to different handle options. Heated the shifter with my brother in laws torch and bent it to an angle that solved the problem.

My hurst hit in r,1, 3 when I got it from bubba. I just unbolted it and flipped it around. Works great

"My hurst hit in r,1, 3 when I got it from bubba" Your bubba must have liked skinned knuckles. Mine was a sissy and used the shorter shifter........but had the shifter forks all messed up so it shifted 1,2,3,2. Don't think he could count either.

"Bet he wondered why he reved so high in 4rth. Haha" I did too, the first time I drove the car. Lucky I did not have the engine wound out tight, or there would have been pistons flying thru the hood.

new shifter
Finally got my new shifter installed in the "75". The 7 1/2 inch model 238007 is the height I was looking to get to. This stick doesn't have the left to right angle built in so I mounted it with a 3/32" brass spacer in the top mounting hole so the stick wouldn't hit the console when pulling through the reverse gate.
Also while I was waiting for the shifter, I stripped and re-finished the horn button. The old paint was peeling and 2 of the rivets heads were broken off leaving the button real loose.
Now all it needs is a good cleaning inside and out and I'll be ready for Spring, if it ever quits snowing.
