Default Original dealer

Do you have to have the build sheet to determine what dealer originally sold your vette?:confused

No. For cars through 76, you could contact the NCRS and see if you can obtain a shipping data report for your car.

For 77-81, you can go here http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...x.php?cmd=area and see if you can get a copy of the original dealer invoice for your car. The invoice will have the name and address of the original dealer.

For Bowling Green built Corvettes, contact the NCM and ask about a copy of the build schedule for your car.

The one you get from GM Heritage ($50) for your 79 will look like this. Many years ago they would send them out for free after you called but alas, guess it costs to do the research:

My dealer is still in business.

Was there other relevant info you obtained about your car from the dealer?

Mike, they provided mine for an '82, as well. $50 bucks.

I have not tried to learn anymore from the dealer since the car is far from original when I bought it. The copy of the invoice is an interesting read and provides enough information for my curiosity.
