Default how do you mount hard top?

I have a C3 1970 and have never mounted my Vinyl hard top. Put the same type of devil tail studs on the part that goes thru the back , but how are those side bolts done near the doors? Do i just run a nut and bolt thru them?

Ask Uncle Jed, seriously use the side bolts for safety reasons, would be very bad if HT came off while driving. Mark

There is an internally threaded bolt and gasket that goes into the lid.

And a nice chrome bolt

As described above, the sides get bolted into the deck lid with the internal thread inserts and a chrome hex headed bolt. They look just like the ones in the link. The hard top uses long studs in place of the pins you are referring to as "devil's tails". While a more secure way to fasten the top to the deck lid, the studs are quite a bit more difficult to use. There's a (kinda) rectangular retainer and a hex nut that tighten the top to the deck lid. The retainers and nuts are a challenge to use. Many owners opt for the pin instead of the stud/retainer/nut because it's easier to use. Some C3's also have a small carriage bolt in the center of the rear edge, below the glass. It's purpose is to pull the weather seal down to the deck lid between the 2 studs (or pins). The bolt requires a chrome bracket that's riveted to the top and a corresponding hole and escutcheon in the deck lid. I'm not sure if this had started in production for 1970. Others can post on that. My 1972 definitely has it.

Hope this helps.

I'd go back and delete a couple of these.
