Custom Interior Option in 1970
Curious––could the custom interior be ordered from the factory in 1970 in colours other than black leather and tan leather? I know it just added leather seating surfaces, door panel and console trim, and cut pile carpet. Both of my cars have it.
In my 1976, the interior is its original custom Firethorn––no debate there at all. My 1970 has a 411 Bright Blue vinyl interior, however, it also has the custom door panel and console trim and inserts and cut pile carpeting. I believe this to have been installed by a previous owner during a restoration. Good assumption?

The Corvette Black Book says custom interior only for black and saddle for the 1970 model year. I would agree with you. Your custom blue probably came from the PO.

Hi B,
I believe just the 2 Custom Interior colors (black, saddle) were available throughout the 70-72 model years.
Regards,
Alan

What you put back in is up to you. As mentioned it likely did not have deluxe interior option from the factory. But, if you like that option and like cut-pile carpet, go for it. Or you can go loop pile and keep the other deluxe trim, or revert to 'basic' interior.
Your choice. My .02 would be to put the loop pile carpet in but keep the other upgrade items. (but that would leave cut pile carpet panels at the bottom of the door panels). I do not think loop pile carpet should be installed on the door panels; it just wouldn't look right.
