Default Alternator brackets.

My 73 came to me without the alternator and only one of the brackets. I have an assembly manual and I've collected the correct brackets,(I think). However, I'm about a belt width out of alignment. The power steering pump aligned well, and I was able to shim the alternater pulley out, but not a lot of shaft left to get a lock washer on the pulley nut. I suspect I need a different alternator, or alternator pulley.....does this set up look correct? I've seen diagrams where the bracket attached to the water pump was moved up tp the top alternator bracket. Don't think that would help the alignment, but it is different for some reason. This one fits real close to the valve cover as well.

You have the wrong pulley, should look something like this one for BB's.

I made the mistake in the '70's when I didn't keep my original pulley when I replaced the alternator. I bought this one from ZIP to correct the belt alignment.
