71 wiper anomaly
Car has very good vacuum. Headlamps work perfectly. If I use the wiper door override under the column the door pops up and down smartly. If I use the wiper switch the door takes about 10 seconds before the door raises and the wipers start to wipe. Wipers work perfectly. And when I turn them off they park and the door closes. Turn them back on and another 10 seconds before the door raises and wipers start up. New repop electro-vacuum switch behind tach. No change. New repop vacuum switch under wiper arm. No change. Any ideas???
Thanks Thad

Hi TNT,
The vacuum supply to the wiper door RELAY can be controlled in either of 2 ways:
Normally it's a combination of the wiper SWITCH and the wiper door solenoid valve SWITCH that controls the vacuum signal to the RELAY.
OR when the SWITCH isn't to be used…...
It's the manual override (pulldown) SWITCH that controls the vacuum signal to the RELAY.
I think you need to carefully check that the wiper door solenoid SWITCH's hoses are attached properly, and then check it's operation.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

KEEP IN MIND that you sometimes have to allow the vacuum to build up again so it works....depending on what the engine is supply for vacuum.
So...switch it on and off quickly can deplete the vacuum storage tank and that is IF your vacuum check valve is GOOD.
And not knowing if you know this or not...but it is the loss of vacuum on the small hose on your actuator relay is what is allowing the door to OPEN. And when you apply vacuum to it again....it CLOSES the wiper door...and your headlights are the same way.
