That is pretty sweet, lucky you got it....
I have a question that is related vaguely
I see on forums and car sales ads something that never made sense for me,
Why blur out the license plate?
People see it in traffic every day,
Some of us even show off our vanity tags,
so why do some folks hide them only in pictures?
Back on the 69 when it's running

People who blur their plates probably wear tin foil hats or live in California.

I've heard it's because based on your plate number people can look up your address and personal info available via public record. If someone wants to come try to steal the car based on my address let em' try. I'm in Texas. We love the 2nd Amendment and we recognize "Castle Law" in the Great State of Texas.

Okay, but 100's perhaps 1000's see the car and the tag out driving around so only blurring it in pictures is likely the place of least threat of some dbag looking it up and in that vein even with out much effort a person can track down almost everything they desire to know from for example being a member of a forum,
In my case I am hosed I am all over the net,
But yeah most people live by castle law even if they don't know they do....

But if you can cross reference that to an internet post, you'll know I have some expensive parts in the car. There's definitely a difference.

I believe any pretty looking corvette can catch the eye of some dbag thief out in the world, far easier to follow one to where they are going than go look you up from a net post.

No doubt about that. Someone looking to steal a car, even if a Corvette in particular, isn't going to go to the internet to look for license plate numbers of cars that are likely to be hundreds of miles away, instead they're going to look in their local area for cars close at hand to make the job much easier and cheaper.

I personally know people who have advertised cars on eBay, and their home states researched their histories based on visible license plates, and sent them tax bills based on eBay activity.
This is just one example of various reasons people choose to keep their personal license and address information not necessarily secret, but not plastered across the Internet.
Make whatever choice you like, but calling people who do this "tinfoil hat wearers" is unfair.

I know you can't get that information from a plate number in Saskatchewan.

Right, I have tried to make sense of plate blurring for years and just cant do it.

while bad guys will hack and do illegal stuff to gain info on a person from a tag posted in a picture that we might not gain in legal routes it's very different when the IRS is tracking a person off their tag in a sales ad on ebay to be sure they get their beak wet with taxes, but ebay reports all kinds of sales and while it "could" have been that some IRS agent used a photo with a tag to track the person it's also very possible that ebay reported them....curious how do they know for sure the IRS tracked them....were these cats flipping lots of cars?

I didn't take the tin foil remark as mean but rather a way of saying folks that do that are paranoid in a tonque in cheek way since my wife testes me a lot about being very paranoid about some stuff, I believe that is just a case of how we feel about the paranoid label....I need to open my view to see how the next fellow might feel about something...
Sorry my question about plate hiding wasn't mean to cause any furor...

I understand completely the ramifications - I can tell you this though, if you don't like the license plate you're really gonna hate my tattoo -
Over a drink one day we can hash it out -

I've been to that Crazy Chicken biker bar in San Bernadino on old 66, I have a friend that lives close by. You might have seen him, he has a HUGE military vehicle converted to an RV.
Happy Motoring, Frank
