27 Years Of Car Ownership Over Today
Mixed feelings today. Sold my 77 that I have had since 1989. Lot of memories tied up in that car, but given my current family scenario it just wasn't getting driven. Time to move on. Its been fun guys - thanks for all the tips, help, fun and support.

Hi Derek,
Now THAT'S a sad picture!
Kinda like having to give your dog away!
I hope it went to a good home with someone who will enjoy it!
Regards,
Alan

wow, i'd have a really hard time parting with something I've owned that long. As stated above, hope it went to a good home. Also, as others have said in the past, you don't have to own a C3 to participate here, so don't be a stranger!

NOPE, my last shew is my Seventy TEW........I been through HELL with this car since last Feb........but so far it seems to run fine, after me taking 4.5 hours to pull the top off the engine, and then to a shop to get it all redone, and then about ten daze to get it back together again.....PIA only good for maybe 3-4 hours in the garage in this H&H weather......100f and 111% H......killer.......but it goes to my son if he wants it when I gone....age 72 here....just can't DO it anymore....damnit.....

I have owned my '78 since 1982. Third owner, It originally came from Florida, second owner only owned it for 3 weeks. I have had the car longer than I have known my wife, and fortunately she is understanding. I don't drive it as often as I would like, but when I do , I feel that I could drive it forever.
I sold my 1979 L-82, 4speed when we first got married, but this one is a lifelong hobby- projects get completed- that's why it is a hobby.
I wish you the best on coming to closure with it.

The new owner sent me a text, the car made it home safe and he is very happy with it. In reality I need something I can put at least two kids in. Being a Dad and wanting to share the car hobby with a two seater is just a tough thing to pull off.
It is weird seeing an empty spot in the garage but all the more reason to find something else to fill it up.
Two pics below, one 1989 one 2015. The car looks the same - but the driver sure looks different..lol

Been there too. Had a 67 vert, and an 85 at the same time ( I was afraid to drive the 67 because it was too valuable, and that was in 86 just as they started to skyrocket. ANd the second child had just arrived. Once I got rid of them both and bought a conversion van ( remember they had tv's and VCR's in them?) I ened up buying a 300ZX 2 + 2. SO I had a sports car AND a back seat. Went through 2 or 3 of those over the years before I ended up with my 78 project. THey were fun cars and not very expensive. And that is a GREAT pair of pics.

Life and our Lord have a way of helping us make good decisions for the future where others we care about are involved .OFTEN the decisions are difficult...But the best most responsible folks make them.. And move forward.Enjoy your family, wife, children...stay in touch..Might be another fun-impractical car in your future..Jim
