Does this look right? I get a lot of engine shake. I did order new mounts today. I hope they help.

It looks like a non locking mount used for the 1963-1969 early cars. It could be used in the 1970 as a cheap replacement back years ago.

I am hoping the newer mounts will absorb more vibration.

Dean- Probably not.. the only difference between this earlier mount and the newer version introduced in mid production 1969 was what is called locking tabs. The issue was mainly with the higher horse power engines and the big blocks. They would torque up and break the passenger side motor mount and when this happened the block would raise and pull the accelerator cable.. While GM was trying to figure a way around this issue they issued a recall notice that called for the dealerships to install a cable system to keep the engine from lifting. This was only in 1969 and these original cable kits were issued for Carmaro, Corvette, Nova and Chevelle. (I still have some of these kits believe it or not).

But that was for 1969 cars.. your car should have never had this mount on it but the cost of this mount was always way cheaper than the cost of the correct "Locking Tab" mount so I suspect the PO of your car took the low road.

That's a shame. Unbelievable what people will do to "save" $5.00.

I wish someone would look into a fluid filled motor mount for these cars. Porsche has used them for years and it really isolates the motor vibration well. At a stop light you would think the car stopped running if it not for the tachometer reading RPM's. If the vibrations were isolated better I would think the rattles and shakes that one associates with an old Corvette would mostly be gone. I think it would help preserve the fiberglass body as well from some of the stress cracking we all see.

If you have a non locking mount on the driver side as well as power steering, the support bracket for the PS pump is located by one of the mount bolts, this bracket will not fit to a locking mount. At least this is what happened to me and I had to fit the PS pump support that bolts to the front of the block.

I have a 69 BB march car which appears should have non locking motor mounts. What are the negatives in replacing whatever I currently have with non locking mounts?
Also, if anyone knows. I noticed there seems to be a couple extra parts if you have a BB and AC. It looks like there is a shim and a heat shield for the motor mounts. Anyone know about them?

It may have happened to you BUT the locking style motor mount DO USE the same bracket for the power steering and I have not run into not being able to use a locking design motor mount on an engine that was non-locking. Unless I am lucky..I have yet to have a motor mount design change stop me in my tracks.

The only thing I had to change was the ignition shield that runs along the bottom side of the engine block. I had to modify it with new rivets so I could change the angle of where the bolt that goes into the ignition shield and to the motor mount would fit.
