L48/L82 Hood Badge Placement
Does anyone know the correct placement for the L48/L82 hood badges? At some point mine were removed and the holes were filled in, apparently pretty well because I can't tell where they went.
Also just to confirm, a '76 C3 had them, right?

The L-82 badges may use emblem tape, hence no holes. Do you have the assembly instruction manual (AIM)? The AIM shows placement of the badges and whether holes were drilled.

I do not have the AIM, but the new badges I ordered have pins on the back for speed nuts.
I was actually contemplating cutting off the pins and sticking them on.
Regardless, still looking to find the exact correct location for them.

Anyhow, my '78 L48 never had holes for the emblems and I didn't want to drill the hood to intall emblems..I dremeled off the two pins on the L48 emblrms and positioned them properly after new paint-pinstriping decals were done..I used 3M double sided emblem adhesive tape after warming hood surface and emblem. They came out great..tho not NCRS which I care nothing about..Jim..sorry for the inverted picture..

Emblem is centered on the rise of the hood contour up-down.. The original placement for most emblems had plus-minus dimensions..I got my location from Wilcox' website..
Have you looked at the inner side of your hood to see IF the patched holes might be seen..Not sure why anyone would remove the emblems even for painting and not reinstall them..but if the hood is from a different car perhaps the other car didn't have hood emblems designation L82 ...hope this helps..unless you are a strict NCRS bolt-rivet-label counter.., the dimensions I offer will get you very close..Rather than drill the hood( assuming paint is great..remove the pins on the L82 emblems and put them on as I described in my earlier post..IF surface is clean and emblem is warmed to 80F and also hood surface..the emblems will not come off without outside human intervention..Jim

Thank for that...
Oh well... I put them on already. Just sticky tape though, so nothing permanent.

AFAIK and FWIW, the L-48 badges are an aftermarket add-on. The only hood badges I am aware of for a '76 Stingray are for the L-82 motor. I had L-48 badges on mine for a while and they had emblem tape on them. I think it only matters to a few C3 Vette owners. Most other people would have no clue if they were factory or not.
My 2 cents.
