Hello everyone, I'm new to this sight and came across it trying to find some information on a supposed Corvette engine block. It's a 3970010 with a partial VIN of C4F430079 and Suffix V0408TMM. I was told it came out of a corvette but I couldn't seem to figure it out for sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

C4F430079 is not a Corvette VIN derivative. Suffix TMM indicates a truck block and was not used in Corvettes.

Nothing wrong with using a truck block in a NOM car. It will provide the same performance as a "real" corvette block.

Mines VO605TYU and I traced it to a truck block, I think to get 4 bolt mains, all the other bits match the original 1970 350/350 specs and the transmission is number matching.

V = Flint
0408 - April 8 assembly date
TMM = 1974, 350, 145 hp, 2bbl carb, auto trans, installed in a truck.

Ah Yes! 'Mysterious' engines end up in Corvettes.
The '010' engine block was EXTREMELY common and literally millions of engines were built using that block in hundreds of configurations.
The 3 letter 'Suffix Code' is at the end of the engine stamp which identifies the plant the engine was assembled at... 'V' is Flint Michigan, the month and day the engine was assembled... 0408 is April the 8th, and…. TMM indicates either a 145 hp 2 barrel engine assembled in 1974 or a 170 hp 4 barrel engine assembled in 1980.
So there you go!

he doesn't say the engine is in a corvette, just the engine is supposed to come out of a corvette, just what we used to say years ago when we were trying to sell a hot rod car.

Hi Graham,
I 'believe' the 2 bolt and 4 bolt main bearing engines use the same rough block casting.
It's the difference in the machining processes that result in a 2 bolt or 4 bolt bare block.
