Pulled my '74 body.. questions Re: '73 replacement frame.
I finally got to pull the body off the '74 I picked up a few months ago to replace the un-repairable body of the '73 I had purchased a couple years ago. The frame that came with the '73 was a replacement frame, not original and was basically new.
There are a couple differences, not including some of the ground areas not drilled out on the frame itself, but the front bumper bar area has only two holes drilled in the frame and the rear does not have threaded bolt holes where the bumper bars attach. I've attached a couple pictures of the rear. Will these holes line up properly by bolting it up? On the front, I'll have to drill a couple holes for the side brackets to bolt up.

Sorry, confused me. Are you rebuilding a 73 or a 74? 69-73 frame are the same. 74-75 are the same but different than the 73. What body are you using and on which frame do you want to mount it? Be glad to help once I know the combo you want to use.

you want to put a good 74 body on the new frame that was bolted up to an unrepairable 73(body)
so a 74 body onto a 73 frame !
probably the best way would be to put it on ,level and line it up and see where the bumper mounts need to go.
interested to see what others say on this.

I agree, I could not figure out what you are doing.
You have a 73 and a 74.
What do you plan to end up with? 1973 or 1974.
What year frame will be under what you end up with? 1973 or 1974.
Keep us posted

OK. I bought the '73 that sat on a replacement frame a couple years ago. The body on the '73 was needing a total replacement as it was totally weathered and half there. I found a fully intact (except the engine) 1974 with a great body locally and picked it up for what I think was a good price. I decided I'd put the '74 body on the '73 frame I already have finished and license it as a 1974. The issue I am having is with the front and rear bumper brackets. I was not aware that the '74 frame was a one off. Again, I did not do my due diligence before diving in. The '74 frame is good and solid with no rot, just dirty and pitted in spots so it could easily be reused but I'm not going to go through that again after finishing what I have already with the rebuilt engine. I may put the brackets back on the 74 frame and take some measurements. The holes on the brackets look like they could line up with the two on the frame but they are not threaded holes. (see pictures in first post) I'll take more pictures of what I'm looking at to try to explain a bit better but I'm sure someone here has done this swap.

Got it. You are building a 74 using a 73 frame and 74 body. Front end should be very similar, rear end geometry is different for the rubber bumper. Let me check my 75 rear frame section to see how similar it is to your 74 need.
