1981 Distributor Question....crooked or bent???
I just pulled the body off my 81 to repair the rocker channels and install new body mounts...My question is - my distributor is not perpendicular
or 90 degrees from horizontal. Is it supposed to be this way???? Before pulling the body the car was running great, and I as we took the body off I had spotters everywhere and nothing hit at all. Clean lift. Nothing looks bent, broke, or cracked.

Maybe just the cap is knocked around. It would take a good lick to bend that with a 1/2" steel shaft inside.
Just mark the rotor position, pull it. If its bent, it wont turn.
Get a Magnaflow cat back and pick up 13hp. That factory cat is a giant choke point.

Are they normally angled like that though? Like I said, the car ran great prior to the tear down and nothing looks bent or otherwise knock around. If anyone can look at theirs Id appreciate it. Not much information on any issues like this.

Yes. They sit a at a slight angle to the left. I had never paid any attention to it until I installed the HEI. The flat coil made it very obvious.

Yeah, its not real noticeable until you see the chassis naked...from behind. Thanks for commenting - I was starting to second guess if I'd hit it even though I know I didn't.
