79 dash bulbs missing?
Can anybody tell me from the picture if light bulbs go into these three sockets on the dash? I see no heat marks and I cannot find the sockets behind the plate.
Thanks,

Im thinking nothing goes there. I don't recall any bulbs lighting anything on the bottom of the tach on my 79,nor in the 3rd place you show. I am going off the top of my head though and someone my have a more concrete answer.

I highly suggest replacing all the lamps. For $20, your dash will be alot brighter, and they are such a PITA to change.
Is there any lenses/idiot lights on the bottom of the tach?

There is only three bulbs for the tach side. I purchased a new tach and new lens for the speedometer & tach. I have already purchased new bulbs to replace the old.
I do not know about that year, but it sure looks like where that red tape is, there should be a lamp.

Before you put that all back together, I suggest you take each socket and clean the contacts. I found many of the contact were corroded enough that the light bulbs would not work. I'd hate to see you put all the bulbs back in and then some don't work. Good luck. Bill

I do not have a 79 however the NCRS judging manual states that in late 79 (with the 85mph speedometer) there is a space in the lower face of the tach for a "choke light". No bulb is installed in this space".
Here is the back of a 79. It looks like the bottom two are empty:
so if all you have is 3 bulbs for the tach it could be right. Hopefully someone with a 79 can verify it for you. Good luck.

The pic shows the sockets not the bulbs. Perhaps when the NCRS states no bulb to be installed they are meaning that one to the right of two open holes?

I happen to have the cluster out of my '79 (later production) out right now and just looked at the back.
Somewhat oddly the space for "CHOKE" (bottom, right hole in your photo) has a socket installed. The one beside it does not. And yes, the place you suspect should have a general illumination bulb should have one.
