Minor differences between engines for those years. That engine should work fine.

Truck engines did have a nodular iron crankshaft......they are stronger than the passenger car cast and weaker than a 1036a6 forged......much like a cast steel aftermarket crank nowadays......
Great crank for a street build......I built one with a blower on it that made 600+ horses......no issue.

I contacted Carolina Street Engines and they matched a period correct 454 engine from a 1970 Chevelle to replace my old, worn engine. They built a complete crate engine and I sent them my original intake manifold to make sure I would not have hood clearance issues. The engine dyno'd at 425 HP with 525 pounds of torque. They also give a pretty good warranty. it's been running great for 7 years now and I have won many car shows for best engine bay and best Corvette. It looks completely original to the car.

Good move
Spending all that time and money for what I doubt it would add any value at all. Id pay more for something fresh with some pep to it over a low compression blah motor thats what these had. They were horrid. Just enjoy it bet its worth the same. Someone that falls in love with your car will not walk away over some lousy #s on a block. We all know stuff gets old wears out breaks etc. Never know may even have a 4 bolt main.

Pick up a copy of Hemmings Motor News. There are people out there that do NCRS correct engines. Classsic Engines in Oshkosh,WI being one of them. They have correct blocks, heads, etc.

thanks for all the great info on my post. lots to think about. more then likely I will pull the motor in the 75 coupe and see if its worth rebuilding. in my 73 I am thinking of putting in a 454. the 75 is going to be for resale and the 73 is not going anywhere but in my garage.
