Default CAD drawing of YJ8 wheel

Curious if anyone might have a CAD file or drawing for the standard YJ8 wheel. I'm working on a dirivitive design idea based on that wheel design, and it would be super helpful if I was starting from that original design file.

If someone could make a 17 inch version of this wheel, very closely matching the original design, it would make lots of people happy.

This is mine, from my measurements. I use this to determine wheel clearance for wider wheels. Important measurements I took where width, offset , also inside dimensions that effect clearance issues from trailing arm components.

To expand on my previous comment, I think if someone could create a 17" YJ8 wheel it would sell....but, the proportions needs to be the same. Don't make up the 2 inches in diameter in one place. Spread the increase in all areas, from rim to edge of slots, the slots themselves, and then the base bolt area. Otherwise, they just don't look right. The larger rally wheels I have seem off, and I am not sure why. And somebody tried this YJ8 idea on an 18 or 20, and it was not something I would put on my car, simply because it just looked wrong.

But, I do think you could pull off a 17 inch replica, if you did it right. Maybe someone will do it right....??

Too bad the market isn't good enough for Goodrich or Goodyear simply to make a real performance tire for 15"wheels. I emailed both companies and made that suggestion, but I doubt if the market is there for them to do so,.....and that is why they are in business. Not to sell to a few of us Corvette nuts.

I fully agree about the 17" version. I have a friend that is an aircraft CAD guy, and has played around with some wheel designs, and seems willing to work on this. He sent me this diagram asking for some dimensions.

Im traveling and far from my car right now. Anyone happen to have information to help fill in the details on this?

The numbers on this diagram were just a template that he was starting with, but I need to provide him with these measurements to give him framework to work within.

No cad drawings but this may help the imagination.

Those look more like 19"..or at least it seems that way. I like those, but I think personally think that the design got a little lost on those. Doesnt quite seem right to my eye.

Im really liking this look, and I'd like it even more if it wasnt 'stepped' the way the barrels are stacked on that one. If that was a single barrel, with the same exact centers as the 15, that'd be a nice looking wheel.

I know I am bringing up am old thread here, however, was there any head way with making a 17" version of this wheel. Or where I could find one?

Ok,, so,, what would you honestly be willing to pay for the wheel you speak of???
Be honest, and then that likely will answer your question,,,

So my buddy Buccaneer..asked a local foundry for a 17" YJ8...(drawings are not a problem really)....The foundry came back with a price of $1000 per wheel for the first 4. It ended up with more of a 'put your money where your mouth is' kinda thing (not him...but subsequent orders).

Personally, I'd rather spend my time drawing a CE wheel in 17".

There are 8 slots in a YJ8 you only have to draw 1/8th of the wheel accurately and 'revolve' that section.

36 slots in a CE wheel...same thing.

Year One is the outfit that makes the oversize musclecar wheels (WS6 Trans Am, N90 Z/28, etc). I don't know if they make a version of this Corvette wheel, maybe take a look there/drop them a line, might be something they're working on or might consider. I have seen a set of their WS6 Trans Am wheels in 17" at a local show and they look wicked!

OK, Hal is somewhat off on the price tag. In case anyone is interested, I done some research on this topic a couple of years ago starting with Chip Foose and going from there. A 18" wheel in the stock GM format is easy to do. However, the cost is rather cost prohibitive even if you did a three piece wheel. I priced a one piece billet wheel, two piece and three piece. The average cost was $12,000 for four wheels. The cost comes down a bit on a three piece to $10,000. The highest was around $15,000 per set. I would love to have a set of 18" on rear with a ZR rated tire on my C3. The reason I went with 18" is you have more tires to choose from vs. a 17". Also after doing the conversion on tire size and side wall, the 18s come out to be almost the same size as having a 255x60x15 tire. So speedo does not become an issue.

I had put out there on this forum if someone was serious and wanted to team up on this project to PM me and we could talk about it. I wanted more than just a one set to make it worth the time and cost. There are plenty of C3 out there that want a Z or ZR rated tire on their vette and have more choices on a stock looking GM wheel to include the center caps.
