Default 1981 body mounts

Well, I have tried to search the forums but I am either doing something wrong or this subject is not talked about much. I am about to have the body mounts replaced on my 81 and was wondering where any of you guys have gotten a complete body mount kit from. I have seen the ones on Ecklers and a few other vendors, just looking to find the best all inclusive kit for the best price and quality. I should also mention I would like to replace them with the poly mounts. Thanks in advance.

I have a 69 so i went with poly that are special size too replace the solid aluminum that were on my car,

In your case you want to go from rubber to poly, all poly well all rubber out there isn't the same some is really junk, the poly will crack the rubber will rot, its so much crap out there,

In this case forum feedback would be great but i personally would only trust one fellow, supporting vendor ernie willcox, he has a shop, sells parts so he is going to know what junk to avoid,

Try giving him a call

The best 73-82 body mount kit is made by Bair's, and retails for about $140. Some vendors carry it, while others carry a cheaper foreign made kit, that sells for about $100. Spend the extra $40, it's worth it.

Could you advise what vendors do carry the kit?

Thx. I ordered rubber mounts from Ecklers for my '81 refurb. They're back ordered so I'm thinking of cancelling and getting Blair's deluxe kit. Or are they the same?

My body guy thinks the replacement mounts should be rubber because poly has no give and will stress the body when the frame bends while rolling over uneven terrain. Is this an issue?

Does your body guy know 68-72 c3s had solid mounts made of aluminum,

This is what my '81's original body mounts like today. The mounts exposed to the elements obviously need replacing. But the internal mounts look ok, for now. Tried to get at the easily accible mounts, but the bolts are too corroded to remove easily. The body is being exten$ively refurbed, my body guy didn't want to mess penetrants until the body was painted, for fear the stuff would soak into the SMC and ruin the paint in the area.

If he doesn't he will shortly...
Still curious to know if the rubber is easier on the body by allowing the frame to flex and not transmiting the stress to the body.

I have never heard of anything like that before frame flex hurting the body unless perhaps the frame is rotted out
