Default BUBBA alive and well in Ottawa

I picked up an all original 1 owner 70 vert with a hard top , the person who had it , got it repaired in 2011 at our local GM dealers , man how embarrasing , 1st dealer could not find a muffler for it , and the 2nd GM dealer did this to the brakes, and the brakes are still bad, the car was stored for 7yrs , , so no new muffler and bad brakes and still they gave this lady a safety check , this is my new ride . 2nd pic dealer installed front left caliper , really

Hi RR,
Well that's a very nice looking 70! And a convertible no less!
You'd think the dealer would have at least pulled the sticker off!! (I want to think that maybe it's a joke.)
Good Luck! I hope it gives you lot's of pleasure.
Regards,
Alan

How about a few more photos? It's always fun to see what people are playing with.

Congratulations, exterior looks good at least. Did you have to make room for it or do you have a "collection" now?
Curious as to who the guilty dealers are...

Well, most dealers won't even touch a car that old these days. At least there is a nice network of Corvette specialty shops around now.

Nice car; good luck with it and hopefully you will not find too many more bubba fixes.

Last fall I brought my newly purchased 81 to the Chevy dealer here in the BC interior. I was lucky in that one of the senor techs was around in 81 and had worked on vettes. The tech was impressed with the condition of the car, and how much money the PO sunk into the vehicle. Other than a few minor hose issues, the car checked out great. But the service manager did say they no longer had the "specific tools" to do major work to the car.

I do all my own work on everything, never trusted the dealers, but I looked at the parts store I have a commercial account there for a muffler and a caliper , all available with out the decal on them , and what they charged her was criminal, just **** poor servive for a loyal customer this couple was .

From one '70 owner to another, that's a good looking car! What is your production number? Wondering how close yours is to mine. Mine is 13754.

Also check out the '70 Registry homepage if you're interested:

Nice looking car. I had always suspected Bubba made it to few dealerships but was never had proof. Yup, he did. Of course, some would say, if the dealer did it, it is the same as factory! LOL. At least those are minor things that can be easily replaced. Enjoy the car.

I really have a good one. At a Chevrolet dealership, I was talking to one mechanic and an older mechanic walked up and stated that we Corvette owners were really something else. He then told me the story of a six month old 1969 Corvette big block that he had to give a tune-up to. He used a hole saw to cut a few holes into the inner fenders to be able to get to the spark plugs! And was upset at how mad the owner was at him when he found out about the holes! Your car looks beautiful, by the way. Lou.

That takes the cake! My husband was a mechanic for over 20 years. I'm going to show him your post and see what he thinks of that.

I would have just said, "and you still have a job?" Then told the manager to have the mechanics stop touching my car because if they have mechanics that stupid, I wouldn't want them touching/working anything of mine.
