Hello Lars,
With all due respect, I think the picture you are showing of the 209 carb is a restamp. The 209 should have a FG code after it. The DG code is found on the 7028219 carb for the 350hp 327.
And the fonts you shown are usually what I see on restamps. I am speaking strictly of the fonts stamped into the body. I know next to nothing on which parts might be found on the carb for 68. I'm a 69 guy, but the fonts were pretty much the same, but not always. They had at least 2 types of stamp sets that I think are correct for 69 not including the Carter made carbs.
I think this is a correct picture of a real 209 stamping.

Yes sir I have to agree. The carb shown in the original post appears to be a bad restamp.

In that case, I'll delete it.

Why was it deleted? Maybe we just misunderstood and you were depicting a restamp to provide an example of what to look out for. Shame, there was some good information in there.

Lars,
You seem to be offended.
The pic of the stamp you had looks like a fake. It didnt have the correct letter code for a Corvette. But I was open to the possibility it may not have been a fake. I certainly don't know everything about all cars and I'm always willing to learn.
The rest of your info was valuable and I though the idea was to protect consumers from fakes, correct?
You are looked upon as an authority so what you post is believed. Mistakes happen. I think you made one. Big deal, it happens. And now your making another by thinking you can't ever be wrong about something rochester, if in fact I was even correct. I was not trying to embarrass you.
So why not allow for correct info to be shared? That's what I thought this forum was about. Collective knowledge.

I don't know how to rebuild a carb, do jet settings, or what CFM stands for. But I'm fairly decent with font recognition, shape recognition and things that have to do with scale sizing and sculpture as that was part of what my profession was.

So I apologize for sharing what I thought would be HELPFUL information with a person who I though would appreciate it. But no to do so would have been irresponsible for me in helping the rest of the Corvette forum community. For all I knew you could have said something like "there are several sets of fonts and carbs with different letter codes for different cars". Maybe. I don't know. Maybe that carb was for a Camaro and they use a different code or something other than a Corvette but used as an example. Who knows. But it was not correct for a Corvette. And that's what we are here for.

I hope you reconsider and repost your info.

Ed
