Default Tab on steering column for transmission lock

I know this is a long shot, but I'm in the middle of rebuilding my steering column and have a question. It's a '69 column and was supposed to have some sort of tab or bracket above the lower bearing that hooked to a cable that went to the transmission. Mine just has a jagged edge where I'm guessing the tab used to be. I haven't had any success finding the piece and, in the picture, it doesn't look complicated. It looks like something I should be able to fabricate.
I don't care all that much about having it (should I?), but have the rest of the pieces and the column partially disassembled, so if I'm ever going to do it, now's the time. But I need to know the dimensions. I don't suppose anybody has ever heard of doing this? The only picture I have of the part is below (top circle):

Actually, that just may do it. I can size things off the bracket and the new cable. Thanks!
