Wheeler Dealer's Ed is gone
I for one will miss Ed, the head mechanic on Wheeler Dealers. He owns a C3 and had 2 or 3 episodes of working on Stingrays.
The Velocity Channel says it cost too much to show all the details of Ed's work. Taking the show in the direction of many current automotive shows will ruin the show's integrity and that's not where Ed wants to go.
The UK guys are really inflamed over this and placing total blame on the Yanks in the US.

I will also miss Edd China!
I Tivo'd the recent '68 C3 episode, and I must have watched it 3 or 4 times over this winter.
Not necessarily to memorize the actual repairs he was making, but it was more "winter blues therapy" for me, while mine was in storage.
Almost all the repairs needed on that featured C3, were/are also on my list for my '69.
He made the valve stem seal replacement look like fun - to the point where I may take on that project this summer, even if I'm not detected any oil burning out the tail pipe.
Shame on VC for taking a good thing from the UK and ruining it.
All those other "Garage" shows have gotten to be more about the characters and the drama, rather than on the cars and the tech.
They seem more to be fitting the same format of those shows my wife watches, like all the real estate flipping and repair shows, where the drama is featured way over the actual properties and work to be done. You can lump in the Gold Rush show, the Crab and Tuna fishing boat soap operas, and the Pawn Shop shows in that same bucket.

That show ran for decades in the UK.
How did we screw it up so quickly?
Dam shame, I enjoyed the show as well.
Mike added the buying excitement and Ed was an
excellent mechanic.
I told my wife he must have had a proper apprenticeship in the UK.
He could go from strut install to complete body panel repair.
I hope he gets his own series.

I have watched Wheeler Dealer since it first appeared on TV here. Velocity has a real knack of ruining shows. Fast and Loud became crap fairly quickly. I can't stand South Beach Classics. Next they will ruin Chasing Classic Cars by having Wayne and Roger in some drama.

Sad. Ed China was why I watched the show. I've been a "car guy" for over 50 years and I was still able to learn a few things by watching Ed perform his magic! Velocity couldn't understand the concept of a car show actually detailing automotive diagnosis and repairs instead of fake, "made for tv" drama.

Real shame. Ed was the best part of that show.

BTW, wouldn't it be great to bring Ed onto the cast of the Grand Tour with Clarkson, Hammond and May?

That's unfortunate. The actual purchase vs sale part was pretty much pointless on that show because they never accurately allowed for all the labor and the negotiations scenes were terribly contrived.
I felt like Eds ability to show pretty much any repair in a manner that was doable was the entire reason to watch. Another lost good show. Not much left.
But hey, at least they can play Bitchin' Rides reruns 23.5 hours a day some more.

It seems that TV producers have very little (or NO) concept as to why Car people watch a automotive based show...
Congrats to Ed for stepping off the boat before it goes down.
Hope he's back with another show of his own soon.

Ed China was the ONLY good part of that show and the only reason I watched it. When they extended it from a 30 minute show to an hour show, all they did was add more commercials and Mike face time. Velocity has done this to all their shows - no additional content.
Nothing left on Velocity worth watching anymore.
Sad!!!

The mechanic part with ED was also he reason why I watched it. Especially the beginning Versions from England.
