Default ZORA and me at 1986 INDY Super Chevy Sunday!

The HIGHLIGHT of all of my Corvette shows. Summer of 1986 INDY Super Chevy Sunday where my 1969 L-88 Corvette convertible won Best In Class for all Corvettes, and I got to shake hands with Zora Arkus-Duntov, "The Father of the Corvette"

Zora and Elfie got around a lot in 1986. I met them at Clarkston, Mich at the Meadowbrook vintage race event at the Waterford Hills racetrack. Zora also drove the pacecar. The event was sponsored by the Buick division of GM?

Hi,
Here's Z at Carlisle in 1993 with GS#1.
I took this photo and a few more while he was waiting for a camera crew to get set up for a recorded interview.
The heat was brutal.
I brought him some cold water and he invited me to sit in his Jag sedan (a/c) that was idling near by.
I spent about 20 minutes talking to him. I was REALLY out of my league!
Regards,
Alan

He didn't like the way the hood pin on the left side was set and kept fiddling with it.

Elfie was along with Zora that day too. Guy in the yellow shirt was the editor of Super Chevy Magazine. They were looking at my photo scrap book of the retoration.

Hi,
The car had been parked nearer the grandstand under a small tent.
He was asked to drive the car around the little bit of the original track that was still there then to that rocky spot at the base of the 'hill'.
I was running to get my camera while he was driving so missed any opportunity to get a picture of him in the driver's seat.
He was really slipping the clutch to keep the speed down, but also to not stall the engine….. it sounded terrific, especially when he came up along that wall of rocks.
Regards,
Alan
