Default Spring is here, '82 back on the road

The '82 car we purchased from VanBortels was stored in their showroom during the Winter. Finally, roads were dry with no salt residue. We went to see our car after 3 months and ended up driving it home. We hadn't starter or ran the car before buying, relying on car details and professionalism of salesman, Matt. Car ran great, tight and quick (for a 200 hp. car). Hard to believe it was 35 years old with 46k miles. All the accessories worked, including the cassette player. (the dealer installed a $1000 Kenwood system on this radio delete car. Only thing missing was the clock reset ****. Can't find any indication of a repaint and former owner for 9 years said it was never repainted.

Best of luck from a fellow '82 driver. Just curious, radio delete on an '82?

Thanks for picture of your wife's Corvette. Ours is 1 of 150 with the Radio Delete option. I haven't had any luck finding any information on the other 149, but people at Corvette Museum are searching. Let me know more info. on your Vette.

Just saw the picture of your car. It's in the "high rent" district of C3s; our '77 and '82 are from the "low rent" district so far!

Just went back and re-read your original post, 82's didn't have a clock but I guess since yours is a radio delete they added that and probably took away the oil temp gauge? Learn something new everyday.

Our '82 came with full instrumentation: fuel, amps, oil, clock. Yes, the Forum is great for getting new information. I got a lot of help finding information on the dealer in the Bronx that sold our 'Vette.

The water temp. and gas gauge are on the top row, quartz clock, oil press., and amps. gauges on bottom. Had to go our and check after I wrote original reply.

FWIW: 81-82s had clocks unless one of the optional signal seeking radios was ordered. These had digital time displays. The instrument cluster quartz clock was replaced with an oil temp gauge.

That's why our car has the quartz clock since it was a radio delete car and so wouldn't have a signal seeking radio (obviously). You have a lot better information on '82s than I have.

Enjoy it! The salt is cleared off our roads here in Michigan. I'm hoping to fetch my 73 from my friends pole barn sometime this week, but its going to be rainy the whole week. We'll see.

I hope your weather forecasters are better than ours. I finally put the cover back on the car waiting for some sunny days!
