FS: 1978 Borg-Warner Super T-10 Transmission, Excellent!
1978 Pace Car or 25th Anniversary Close ratio transThis is the Borg-Warner Super T10 Close Ratio Transmission. It is the rarer, heavy duty Corvette L-82 M-21 close ratio option with 2.43 first gear. with 1" Countershaft, Fine Spline 26 tooth input, Fine spline large 32 tooth output. There were only 3,385 of these made in this configuration. It was rebuilt less than 6000 miles ago. I have run Amsoil lube in it since I got the car.It has no leaks, no noise, shifts perfect and was behind a 327 in my 63 Corvette show car. It has never been raced and is very clean. This is the strongest 4 speed trans ever put in a GM car, even Stronger than the M-22 Rockcrusher according to http://www.nastyz28.com/2gcog/trans.html It is the BOLT IN REPLACEMENT FOR MUNCIE with a 26 spline clutch disc, Turbo 400 yoke and your driveshaft. Nice Street Strip trans. at a good price. These are still being produced for racing by Richmond 30 years later. The Case Assembly stampings are WH 0972 which translates to Warner Gear, Aug. 09, 1977 2nd shift. The Vin Stamping is 18S401339 Which deciphers as Chevy, 1978 model year, St. Louis Plant (Corvette Assembly Plant). Car # 1339. All parts are Date matched. The gear ratios are 2.43 first, 1.61 second, 1.23 third and 1.00 fourth. The closer the ratio the more torque the transmission can handle. That makes this the strongest of it's type as they were available with a 3.42, 2.88, 2.64 or 2.43 first gear ratio. Would work best with a 3.55 or lower gear rear end. 4.11 would be perfect. I am replacing it with a $3200 Keisler TKO-600 because I am frame off restoring the car and rebuilding with everything new and a bigger motor. $700 Prefer pick up in Illinois but will crate and ship for $75
