NOS ZL-1/L-88 aluminum heads...RARE.
My friend has a set of BB heads all aluminum 427/454...The casting number is 3946074. One head is dated 9-10-70 and the other is 9-11-70. Both heads are complete with brand new Manley stainless intake and exhaust valves. Neither head has ever been machined, ported, or repaired. They are in excellent condition.. According to books, these heads were used on L-88 and ZL-1 427's in 1969 and the LS-6 454 in 1971.
$3500 firm.......
He also has a set of pistons, presumably from the same motor the heads were on. There are 6 used pistons in excellent shape and two new old stock pistons, still in original GM boxes. The pistons have the wristpin retaining clips that were only found on the highest performance Chevy engines, like the ZL1 and the Z/28 302. $500....
PM me if you want to buy them. thanks guys.

Melting Slicks
3994026 is a cast iron head and would be correct for a 71 Chevelle.
The 3946074 should be an alum, rectangle port, round exhaust, open chamber head, 118cc chamber, 2.19 intake / 1.88 exhaust valves, with no end plug and that would be the correct number & cast date range (they're a little early) for the 71 LS6.
This same casting number & design was used in 69 for the L88 & ZL1 Corvette as well.
Got any photos???
