GM Performance Parts 502ci / 502 hp ZZ502 Engine Motor
The engine is completely asembled and ready to go. All new bearings - Clevite 77 P series rods/mains/cam, GM rings, seals, gaskets, etc. have been installed. It has the original ZZ502/502 hp hydraulic roller cam setup.
Here's the history:
I picked it up through Barber Brothers Chevrolet in American Fork, Utah as a warranty return to use for myself a couple of years ago. It seems the original owner fancied himself a regular John Force and managed to spin #1 rod bearing. This was all done within 200 miles of it's install according to the documentation they showed me. There was also some minor damage to the bottom of #1 & 2 cylinder walls. Needless to say the warranty was declined when they took off the oil pan. I bought it to reuse the heads, block & valvetrain.
I had the block magnafluxed and it checked out fine. Sleeves were installed in #1 & #2 because of the damage to the bottom of the bores just to be on the safe side. The remaining six bores had less than one thousandth taper and were lightly rehoned. Bores are the standard 4.47" diameter. The crank and rotating assembly were replaced. The crank is std. on both the rods & mains. The pistons/rods are 'new' in that they are take-outs from a new 502 engine that was upsized to a 540.
I had the heads checked over, pressure tested & resurfaced - they had no issues. As you are probably aware these are the aluminum GM Performance large rectangu-oval port heads! They have the larger 2.25" intake valves and 1.88" diameter exhaust.
I was going to replace the 454 in my '72 Vette with it, but went a different direction.
$5000 or reasonable offer.
