1102908 63 amp alternator
i have three alternators with the part number 1102908 and 63 amp 12vneg.
I am not sure how to decipher the date codes. One is 3c21, one is 78f26 and the other is 7h4. Most parts books say a single number digit for the year followed by a single letter for the month followed by two number digits for the day of the month. I am a bit confused by some of the date codes. I have a 78 and two 79 corvettes. I would need to look at the ones on my car to try to confirm numbers. Jan.

I PUT MY GLASSES ON AND RELOOKED AT THE NUMBERS. TWO WERE THE SAME, BUT THE 3C21 WAS IN FACT A 9C21. I AM STILL CONFUSED OVER THE 78F26 NUMBER ON ONE OF THESE.
(FOR ALAN71) , DO YOU KNOW HOW TO DECODE THIS?
THANKS, JAN.

My "Corvette By The Numbers" book shows only the 4 character date code. So your 9C21 is
9=1979
C= March
21= 21st day of the month.
Maybe your 78F26 is a service part.

thanks for your information. I am still confused by the 78 in the other one. It is definitely 78f26. Thanks again. Jan.

Originals off my low mile white79 and my 78SA.
My Pace Car alt doesn't have the "7" and the original off my black79(that I recently sold because I had chrome plated it years ago) didn't have the "7" either.

very interesting, so some had the extra 7 and some did not. It will probably wind up with some made during a specific time frame may have had the extra 7 ????
