WTB: LT1 Hood
Looking for a good condition, or new, LT1 style hood.
I don't care what color, but needs to be in good structual condition.
I also don't mind if it doesn't have the chrome/polished inserts, but would prefer them.
Thanks!

I have a brand new reproduction BB/LT1 hood. Bought it for my 70 then found an original in great shape. It requires a 68 catch for the right side.
Asking $850 plus shipping. If you interested I'll take some pictures for you

Are you referring to the one that the guy calls an LT1 hood, and yet also says 454??
I'll have to get a pic of it...I'm pretty sure he meant 427 though. Seems like a decent deal..maybe I can talk him down a hundred.
Thanks for the heads up!

Ok, so there are two hoods listed in Indy that say LT1 and yet both mention 454 as well. Am I wrong in thinking that the LT1 hood only came on the cars with the 427??

There are differences on the underside of the hood where the catches mount on the passenger side. 68 is one style while 69 - 72 are another. The bump outs and rivet placements are reversed requiring a different style catch.

The LT1 hood and big block hoods are the same. Only difference is the big block hoods were drilled for the numbers. Not sure if the placement of the holes were different for 427 vs. 454

Plus I think there's a difference in the bump outs on the repro vs the original. 69+ repros are like the '68s, I believe. Plus within 68- early 69 theres a change in the center cable placement which requires one bolt hole or 2, in different places.

Are you saying that you have one? Or just that it would be a good option?
Do you have pics of it? I don't even know what a BB Sermersheim hood is/looks like..

Here is their phone number 812-424-4701. Talk with Alan. They make a press-molded hood similar to the original. I think the only difference is the rivets used to attach the hardware which is hidden when the hood latches and hinges are installed, and the Sermersheim's hood has both molded locations and hardware for the short hood prop and long hood prop. I have looked for 3 years to find a hood in good shape and finally gave up. I purchased a hood from these guys and I have not picked it up yet. I asked Alan to only install the hardware for long hood prop attachment and fill in the area for the short hood prop location as the original 70 hood. The glass is black as original and it takes about six weeks to make hood. I going to pick my hood up next week.
