Body Dolly (general purpose) - (example Snap On BF712B)

Body Dolly (heel) - (example Snap On BF711B)

Body Dolly (toe) - (example Snap On BF710B)

Body Dolly (shrinking toe) - (example Mac Tools BT1058S)

I think you've been sniffing too many fumes off the resin.
You cant shape 'glass with a shrinking hammer.

Have you checked the Eastwood site?

Ask your favorite auto shop pros when the Snap-On dude will make his next stop.

Snap On prices are way to high for me. I need to find used tools to fit my budget.

HAHA!

Seriously, that's all my mentor Alex uses. He swears by the snap on body tools. They really are that well made. I use them daily at the shop. I just bought 3 used snap on hammers on ebay a few weeks ago...but I still need the above items.

I agree with your mentor as I have a set of Snap-On hammers and dollies I've used for nearly 30 years, and the hammers are unrivalled as far as I am concerned. But as a practical matter dollies are simply chunks of steel used to back the work being straightened. I have an assortment of Harbor Freight dollies and I swear I cannot see any difference in the quality of panels backed by my vintage Snappy dollies vs those backed by the Chinese stuff.

Buy the one hammer you need from your local Snap-On truck and try some "Import" dollies to ease the pain of the premium hammer. I think your panels will never know the difference.

Alex told me that the cast ones from china tend to crack and can actually injure you if struck by a body hammer (the body hammers are forged and hardened). That's what I have been using...cheap chinese ones.

I'd like to purchase the snap on hardened ones. I'm going to open up my own shop one day, and now is the right time to collect quality tools.

That’s the right attitude allright. A true craftsman considers a tool purchase to be a lifetime investment.

Jeremy, you might want to post your wants on the Garage Journal www.garagejournal.com There are a lot of “tool junkies” there; and a lot of high quality tools are bought and sold on that board.

I can't fault your logic even though my experience is different. I have never regretted the purchase of a quality tool.... ever.

Am I the only one thinking that if all the people who subscribed to Stinger's restoration thread would donate a buck of two, this young hard working forum star could afford lifetime tools for his restorer career?
That would be a ridiculously small price for all the entertainment he's providing.
I'm in for 5$

We've all watched this kid full of determination and some well developed skills persevere and inspire us to keep plugging at our own projects. He has not only moved his resto along but took all of us along for a very detailed ride.

Taking pictures and documenting all the work is as much work and aggravation as the physical labor, if not more so. Hats off to you , Jeremy!!! And to Denpo for starting this. I'll see your 5 and raise you 2 (Lucky 7). Let me know how we are gonna get the funds to our friend.

Of course I do. Every penny helps. I'm collecting tools for my career right now, while at the same time trying to build a car, and support the rest of my life.

I really appreciate all of this guys, I really do. Remember, this money isn't going to booze. I don't waste my money on that. I'd rather spend it on my future. I work on Mustangs, Chevelles, old GMC trucks, GTO's...lots of metal cars. Alex told me to start buying more metalworking tools - I'm going to need them the rest of my life when I have a shop someday.

And yes, I plan on "finishing the thread" and the vette. So keep watching!

I have a paypal address. Its...
